Eclective was invited to run a workshop with students from the BA Spatial Design course at London College of Communication. Students were encouraged to use creative research methods to understand a place, its people, and its stories.

Each student was armed with a tailor-made ‘explorer’s pack’ and asked to choose from three different locations- a busy high street, a public space, and a residential area.

The explorer’s pack held fun challenges and imaginative tools to help students collect information and stories from their chosen location. They were then asked to use these stories to propose a design for the area. The exercises allowed students to synthesise research, build a story around an idea, and consider how the local community, passers-by or stakeholders might interact with it.
