Eclective was excited to design a one-day urban exploration for young families. We were asked to plan an ‘urban adventure’ around Clerkenwell that would be fun and accessible for a family with two young children and a cargo bike.

We decided that the journey should start at Smithfields Market in Farringdon, meander through Clerkenwell vis St John Street, and end at Exmouth Market. There would be no maps- the adventurers would be guided by our directions and instructions.

While wandering through the city, each family used our custom-designed explorer’s packs to learn local history, collect objects, observe nature, sketch architectural features, surfaces and patterns, record sounds, and note smells and colours. They sketched and doodled there way through the streets, discovering new characteristics of familiar places.
