‘Field Notes’ captures unique observations of everyday life in Somers Town.
The book describes the ordinary and extraordinary happenings of daily life in a typical London neighbourhood. The methods explored in this project reveal the creative potential of a synergy between ‘invisible’ and ‘visible’ research methods. Techniques include observing rituals, setting rules such as saying “hello” to everyone you see, developing a research toolkit and facilitating community workshops.
With over 100 days spent exploring the neighbourhood, Field Notes offers a fresh perspective on a neighbourhood with an emphasis on the social and psychological dimensions of space.
