Dinner By Vol.2
We Made That

Date

September 2013

Project type

As the financial, political and cultural capital of the UK and some would say Europe, London is the temporary home to many intrepid explorers, experience starved academics and excitement loving creative minds.

These transient residents wish to experience all the city has to offer before leaving for greener fields. This is great for the economy but when a place is populated with over 37% of people who see themselves as short term tenants how do you evoke a sense of community (even temporary) or contribute to the social security of a place?

Joined by special guest Holly Lewis from We Made That, the second feast in the dinner by series focused on ‘New rules of local engagement’. The ‘insider-outsider slider’ tool exposed what it means to be ‘local’ and the advantages and disadvantages of being an outsider.

In the spirit of exchange and discovery guests were asked to bring food lovingly created by themselves using a friend’s, neighbour’s or family member’s recipe.

The event was funded by the University of the Arts London in partnership with UnLtd, the Social Entrepreneurship Award supporting early stage social enterprises.
